New cultural architecture in Poland

20 Wroclaw - Contemporary Museum Wroclaw (Muzeum Współczesne Wrocław)

Since its beginnings in 2011, the exhibition programme of MWW Wroclaw is focused on promoting and popularising the newest local and progressive contemporary art. The present, temporary building of the Museum is in an old anti-aircraft shelter from 1942. The six-storey shelter in is 25 m high and with 1.1m-thick walls made from reinforced concrete. In the 1990s and early 2000s the shelter housed shops, warehouses and a pub. In 2010-2011 it underwent a major overhaul.

 

Opening: 2011

Situation: 3 km. outside the city centre, next to a big and busy crossroads (Strzegomski Square), with an adjacent small park.

21 Wroclaw - National Forum of Music (NFM)

The NFM is one of the largest concert venues in Central Europe. It contains four concert halls: the Main Hall and three chamber halls; the total surface is 48,500 m2..

Opening: 2015

Situation: in the city centre, a large public square – used for events – in front of the music hall.
